Abstract

The present study was conducted in order to predict the academic enthusiasm of first secondary students in Qom based on emotional intelligence, mental health and life satisfaction. The research method is descriptive-correlation and applied in terms of purpose. The statistical population of this research included 350 students of the first secondary level of Qom in the academic year of 1402-1403. The sample size was determined by GPower 3.1 software, 128 people and the sample members were selected by simple random method. To collect data, four standard questionnaires including academic enthusiasm, Korn's emotional intelligence, Goldberg's mental health (GHQ) and Diener's life satisfaction were used. The reliability of the questionnaires were evaluated by Cronbach's alpha method. Alpha statistics values  of 0.836, 0.829, 0.705, 0.888 were obtained respectively, which indicate the appropriate reliability of the tool. Statistical analysis of data was done through Pearson correlation test and multiple regression using SPSS 27 software. The findings showed that by using the simultaneous regression analysis method, a significant model was obtained (adjusted R square = 0.192, P < 0.05 and F = 11.224). This model justifies 19.2% of the variance (adjusted R square = 0.192) and The information about predictor variables is given in the table below. Emotional intelligence and mental health were not significant predictors, but the variable of life satisfaction was a significant one. The findings of this study have several practical implications for educators, parents, and policy makers. Considering the importance of these factors in predicting academic enthusiasm, it is necessary to design and implement educational and support programs to improve emotional intelligence, mental health, as well as life satisfaction in students.
