The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of life skills training on the parent-child relationship and self-esteem of female students in the upper elementary grades in Yazd. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The statistical population included female students in the upper elementary grades in Yazd. A total of 30 students aged 9 to 11 were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Participants completed the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (1967) and the Parent-Child Relationship Scale by Fine et al. (1983). The experimental group received life skills training. At the end of the training, both groups completed the self-esteem and parent-child relationship questionnaires again as a posttest. After checking the assumptions of statistical analysis, the data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). The results indicated that life skills training had a significant effect on increasing self-esteem and improving the parent-child relationship. Specifically, there was a significant difference between the posttest mean scores of the two groups, with 47.9% of the variance attributed to the effect of life skills training. The findings showed that students in the experimental group experienced higher levels of self-esteem after the intervention, and the training also positively impacted the parent-child relationship. These results highlight the effectiveness of life skills-based interventions in enhancing the psychological and interpersonal indicators of elementary school children.
