The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of training with Edward de Bono's six thinking hats method on social media literacy (exposure to online advertising) among female first-year high school students in Dezpart city. The research method is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The data collection tool was a falsafi media literacy questionnaire. After a pre-test, training was conducted using a lesson plan over 12 sessions of 60 minutes each on the experimental group, while the control group was kept away from the independent variable. After completing the training, both groups took the post-test. A covariance analysis was used to analyze the data and the findings indicated that there was a significant difference between the control group and experimental group in the increase in social media literacy in the post-test phase. “Effect Size: 0.798 at a Significance Level of: p < 0.01”. Therefore, teaching with the Six Thinking Hats method has had a positive and significant impact on media literacy and its subscales (understanding media message content, awareness of hidden objectives, conscious selection, critical perspective, and analysis of media messages) in students
