This study utilizes a meta-analysis approach to synthesize and evaluate empirical evidence regarding the relationship between perfectionism and academic burnout in Iran. A total of 17 correlational studies, published in Persian between 2011 and 2024, were included. These studies were selected based on the use of validated measurement instruments, the availability of sufficient statistical data for effect size calculation, and adherence to a correlational research design. The selected studies comprised peer-reviewed journal articles and academic dissertations sourced from databases such as Noormags, Magiran, the Comprehensive Portal of Humanities, Elmnet, Civilica, Jahad Daneshgahi, and Irandoc. Following a systematic search with relevant keywords and the application of predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, eligible studies were identified. Data were coded and analyzed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software (CMA2). The overall effect size was calculated at 0.712, with individual effect sizes ranging from 0.365 to 1.575. The Q-statistic for the 17 effect sizes (df = 16) was 147.737, which was statistically significant (p < 0.001), indicating substantial heterogeneity among the studies. This was further confirmed by the I² index (I² = 89.170%), warranting the use of a random-effects model for the meta-analysis. A moderator analysis examining the effect of gender yielded Q = 0.38 (df = 2, p = 0.827), indicating that gender did not significantly moderate the relationship between perfectionism and academic burnout. Overall, the findings of this meta-analysis are consistent with theoretical frameworks and prior research, reaffirming that perfectionism is positively associated with academic burnout.
