The present study aims to investigate the precedents of adoption of artificial intelligence technology in the higher education system. Due to the multiplicity of researches and divergence in the results obtained from them, which has led to a lack of logical conclusions about the acceptance factors, this research in the form of a meta-analysis, 141 scientific articles registered in reputable domestic and foreign databases that focus on accepting artificial intelligence in education. The excellent published have been studied in a deeper and more categorized manner, of which 39 articles that had the scientific and methodological conditions necessary to enter the meta-analysis have been used as a suitable statistical sample. The reliability of the research has been achieved through the agreement of experts in selecting and classifying articles and coding variables. The collected data have been analyzed using comprehensive meta-analysis software. Based on the findings, 24 variables were identified as the main precursors, among which the variables of "technology changes" with the effect size of 0.792, "behavior flexibility" with the effect size of 0.739 and "alignment of institutions related to development." Artificial intelligence with an effect size of 0.783 is considered as the most important antecedent. Also, among the precedents, the "required standards" with the effect size of 0.117 was weak, which indicates its negligible effect on the acceptance of artificial intelligence technology in the higher education system, and it is likely that this variable will change with the entry of moderating or mediating variables.
